We are in the Grandfather Mountain Area Conservation Wild and Scenic River Gorge
The Wilson Creek River Gorge was designated as a Wild and Scenic River Gorge in 2000. It starts atop of Grandfather Mountain and traverses 23 miles thru the the Gorge connecting with smaller streams and tributaries. The forestry service purchased 700 Acres along the river and created parking areas to have public access to all kinds of cool spots on the River to enjoy fishing, kayaking, tubing, swimming and sun bathing.. Many Rivers and streams in some locales are private land with no access, here there are plenty of areas to enjoy the River. Wilson Creek Pet Friendly Cabin Rentals are on the Estes Mill Creek tributary which is close to the River near intersection of Brown Mountain Beach road and NC 90.
